Holiday house tours on tap in December
‘Tis the season for holiday house tours. Tours are scheduled in early December in Ben Avon, Peters, Crafton and Scottdale, Westmoreland County. Here are the details:
Ben Avon
The Ben Avon Holiday House Tour runs from 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Dec. 2 and features six homes plus Community Presbyterian Church of Ben Avon. Advance tickets are $25 and tour day tickets are $30 at the tour’s starting point, the Anchor and Anvil Coffee Bar, 7221 Church Ave. in Ben Avon. Soup and sandwiches will be available at the church, which will also have a craft fair and live music from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Avonworth marching band will have a craft show from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. that day at Avonworth High School, 304 Josephs Lane, Ohio Township.
Scottdale
The Scottdale Historical Society will hold its annual Christmas House Tour from 2-6 p.m. Dec. 2. Eight homes will be decorated for the holidays, including a 1900 Queen Annestyle house and the 1835-built Loucks Homestead. The renovated Geyer Performing Arts Center and West Overton Village & Museum will also be stops on the tour, which benefits the Scottdale Historical Society.
Tickets are $15 each or two for $25 and are available at Collections by Marty in Scottdale or on tour day at the society’s office, 527 N. Chestnut St. Information: 724-619-1874.
Peters Township
Four large houses in Peters, including one with a live nativity in the sun room, will be open from 1-4 p.m. Dec. 3 for the Watchful Shepherd Holiday Home Tour.
Tickets are $25 and benefit Watchful Shepherd USA, a child/family abuse prevention program. They are available at Keller Williams Realty and Miller’s Ace Hardware in Bethel Park, Today’s Tiffany Lamp Co. in Mt. Lebanon, Malone Flower Shop and The Colorful Rooster in Canonsburg, Miller’s Ace Hardware, The Cob Collection and Arabesque in Peters and David’s Limited in Washington, Pa., or at www.watchful.org. Crafton
The Christmas in Crafton House Tour will run from 16 p.m. Dec. 10, featuring seven houses and the borough’s small business district. This year is the 125th anniversary of Crafton’s incorporation.
Tickets are $15 in advance until 4 p.m. Dec. 8 at the borough office, public library, Ever After consignments, 1935 Crafton Blvd., or www.crafton.org. Tour day tickets are $20 at Hawthorne Presbyterian Church.
Proceeds benefit recreational facilities.
