Florida’s Luongo makes history

- From wire dispatches

When the Florida Panthers beat New Jersey, 3-2, Monday night, it marked a special night for goalie Roberto Luongo.

The Florida netminder’s win was his 200th for the Panthers to go with 252 for Vancouver. Only one other NHL goalie has won 200 or more games with two NHL teams, and that was Patrick Roy (285 for Montreal, 262 for Colorado).

The news of the day was not all good for the Panthers, though. The team announced that forward Evgenii Dadonov is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with an undisclosed upperbody injury.

Avalanche

Colorado captain Gabriel Landeskog was suspended four games without pay by the league for his crosscheck on Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk. Landeskog was assessed a minor penalty in the first period Saturday when he hit Tkachuk in the ribs with his stick, pushing the Flames forward into back of the Colorado net. Landeskog then delivered another blow to the head and neck area. Landeskog, 25, will forfeit $119,815.

Canadiens

Heading into the weekend, Montreal was on a 2-4-2 slide. Then, goalie Carey Price returned to the lineup after a lengthy absence and since then the Canadiens have won two games in a row. He made 37 saves Monday night in a 3-1 victory that snapped six-game winning streak for the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets.

Elsewhere

The NHL announced that Kim Davis has been named executive vice president for social impact, growth initiatives and legislative affairs. She will join the NHL Dec. 4.
