Browns GM rips the one he replaced

- From wire dispatches

It would not a good idea to invite former Cleveland general manager Sashi Brown and current Browns general manager John Dorsey to the same party.

Dorsey, a former NFL linebacker, delivered another big hit Thursday, barely a week after being hired to replace Brown by owner Jimmy Haslam. Dorsey harshly criticized the team’s previous general manager, saying he failed to give coach Hue Jackson good players.

Dorsey avoided a direct answer when asked if he would bring Jackson back if the team goes 0-16, but noted “you’ve got to get a guy like that players. And you know what? I’ll come straight out with it. The guys who were here before, that [analytics] system, they didn’t get real players.”

Dorsey was fired by Kansas City after four seasons with the Chiefs, who made the playoff three times in that span. On his first full day in Cleveland, Dorsey waived receiver Kenny Britt, a major free-agent disappointment. Britt has since signed with New England.

“From a cultural standpoint, I don’t think [Britt] fits in the prototypical character point of what I’m looking for in terms of a leader.”
