Roethlisberger mentioned in account by actress of alleged affair with Trump

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is mentioned in a former adult film actress’s account of an alleged affair she had with Donald Trump in 2006, according to an interview transcript published Friday by In Touch magazine.

In recalling her affair with Mr. Trump, Stephanie Clifford — who goes by the stage name Stormy Daniels — said she remembers meeting Mr. Roethlisberger at a hotel in Lake Tahoe, Nev., the night after she first had sex with Mr. Trump. She said Mr. Roethlisberger was “hanging out with” Mr. Trump, then a real estate businessman in town for a charity golf tournament.

“Ben had just won the Super Bowl that year. Donald excused himself. He had to leave, I don’t remember why, and he made Ben promise to take care of me,” Ms. Clifford said. “I stayed another 15-20 minutes and Ben Roethlisberger actually walked me up to my room that night because Donald told him to. Yeah, he walked me all the wayto my hotel room.”

Ms. Clifford gave the interview to the magazine in 2011, five years before she was reportedly paid $130,000 by Mr. Trump’s lawyer that precluded her from talking publicly about the encounter. The details of that settlement were reported this week, which prompted In Touch to release the transcript.

In the 5,500-word transcript of the interview — conducted several years before the star of “The Apprentice” reality show ventured into presidential politics — Ms. Daniels said she met Mr. Trump at a celebrity golf tournament in 2006 and they began their affair the day they met. It continued with encounters in several cities for the next 11 months, she said.

There is no indication in Ms. Clifford’s account as to why the Steelers quarterback was with Mr. Trump, though Mr. Roethlisberger participated in the America Century Championship in July 2006 in Lake Tahoe.

Calls to Mr. Roethlisberger’s agent were not returned Friday.
