of the affordable units.

“This parking tax diversion is really an innovative program the URA has in place. I don’t think other cities have a similar thing. This might be unique to Pittsburgh, which is a wonderful thing,” he said.

Mr. Boe said the one-, twoand three-bedroom affordable units will rent from $780 to $1,061 a month.

Depending on location and size, the market rate units will range from $1,200 to $1,375 a month for a one bedroom; $1,700 to $1,850 for a two bedroom; and $1,850 to $2,000 for a three bedroom.

As part of the development, MidPoint also is planning about 12,000 square feet of commercial space, including a restaurant, an incubation space for minority- and women-owned businesses, and a pharmacy/urgent care facility.

In addition, there will be community space, a day care and after-school program, bike storage space, fitness and business centers, community art, and 4,000 square feet of open space along Pride Street that will be available to the public.

MidPoint hopes to start construction of the ninestory development to be built next to the NRG Energy Plant in the second quarter. It expects to have it completed in fall 2019.

Of the 423 parking spaces, 368 will be leased to a commercial entity that Mr. Boe declined to name and 55 to residents (29 to affordable units and 26 to market rate).
