Clydesdale­s will march in St. Patrick’s parade

The Express Clydesdale­s, a team of unusual black and white draft horses, will appear in the Pittsburgh St. Patrick’s Day Parade and at two other events March 1517.

Each of the horses is over 8 feet tall and weighs more than 2,000 pounds.The team is sponsored by Express Employment Profession­als, a staffing firm with seven franchises in Western Pennsylvan­ia.

Before the parade March 17, the horses and their handlers will appear at two fundraiser­s, offering wagon rides, children’s activities, food trucks and the chance to meet and get pictures with them.

From 11 a.m.-2 p.m. March 15, the Express Clydesdale­s will be at the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh, 5324 Penn Ave, Bloomfield (15224). Proceeds benefit the Children’s Home.

From 4-7 p.m. March 16, they will be at Donaldson Park, 590 Donaldson Road, Oakdale (15071). The event is hosted by Express Employment Profession­als-Pittsburgh West in Robinson with North Fayette Township and the Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce. Proceeds benefit local military.
