The past week: Wasylson scored 30 points in Mars’ 68-45 win against Franklin Regional and 20 points in a 59-52 win against Hampton.
Check this out: The senior guard is one of two Xavier recruits in the WPIAL, along with Ayanna Townsend of Winchester Thurston.
How excited are you guys for playoffs? We’re really excited, but we’re still taking it one game at a time. We have a big game against North Catholic, so in practice we definitely prepared for that. I’m excited about how we’re playing and I think we’re at our peak right now.
How much better are you guys now than at the beginning of the season? We’re definitely better. I feel like we get better every game as we play with each other. Just our connections on the court are much better. It can get hectic out there but we communicate a lot better now.
Is it cool to think you’re one of two Xavier recruits in the WPIAL? It’s really cool. We haven’t talked to each other yet but we’re friends on Snapchat, Facebook, all the social media. It’s definitely cool to have another person from Pittsburgh area on the team... We’ll be able to drive down with each other and carpool. It’ll be cool to have another Pittsburgher up there.
Who’s an athlete that inspires you, and why? I’d probably go with Steph Curry. He’s obviously one of the top guys in the NBA and his shooting is ridiculous. As a shooter and basketball player I look up to him. He’s humble and you want to follow his example and not take things for granted. He’s someone to keep track of and try to carry it to your game, as a shooter.
Best music to listen to before a game? I like rap a lot. Probably Drake and God’s Plan. It’s definitely my favorite and a good pump-up song.
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why? Hawaii just because weather is really warm, and I love the beach.
What was it like to score your 1,000th point? It was awesome. We were actually playing that day before the boys game so there were a lot of people in the crowd and the crowd went nuts.
