Man accused of using heroin in police parking lot
A narcotics detective with the Allegheny County police did not have to leave the parking lot at the department’s headquarters in Green Tree on Wednesday before he came upon a new case, according to an affidavit filed Thursday.
DetectiveThomas DeFelicesaw a vehicle with the enginerunning and “heard children yelling inside the vehicle,‘Daddy, wake up! Daddy,what’s wrong? Daddy,please get up!’” he wrotein the affidavit. He saw aman slumped over the steeringwheel, with children ages9, 5 and 2 in the car.
The man, according to the affidavit, was Eric Scott Hamilton, 32, of Beaver. “I observed drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle and asked Hamilton to step out of the vehicle,” the officer wrote. “Hamilton complied but required assistance so as not to fall down. Hamilton had on his person 30 … stamp bags of heroin.”
Mr. Hamilton is charged with endangering the welfare of children, drug possession, driving under the influence and recklessly endangering another person. Victoria’s Secret in an online scam.
U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon on Thursday gave the Westmoreland County woman a break and sentenced her to two years of probation.
“I hope I don’t see you again,” the judge told her.
Moff, 59, of New Derry, pleaded guilty last year to mail fraud.
Between 2013 and 2016, she ordered merchandise from Victoria’s Secret using her husband’s account.
After the goods arrived, she called customer service and said she didn’t get the shipment, it was damaged or items were missing. Victoria’s Secret then either shipped her new merchandise or credited the account.
Victoria’s Secret finally called in U.S. postal inspectors, who set up a series of controlled deliveries. They took photos of all the items the company sent to Moff, then waited until she called to complain.
Prosecutors said Moff, who has a history of shoplifting and theft, pulled the same scam over and over, some 200 times in all. Assistant U.S. Attorney Shardul Desai said she cost the company $30,140.
Moff has four prior felonies in Westmoreland County for theft. She was on probation when she started ripping off Victoria’s Secret.
Woman shot to death on Wilkinsburg street
A 27-year-old woman was shot to death Thursday in Wilkinsburg.
Allegheny County police said the shooting occurred about 2:50 p.m. in the 1700 block of Laketon Road.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Keiauna Lynnette Davis of Wilkinsburg. She was pronounced dead later at a hospital.
County homicide detectives were investigating.
