BETHEL PARK

-

The school board voted unanimously Feb. 27 to close schools for upcoming elections, but just for those buildings that are used as polling places.

All of the district’s elementary schools as well as Neil Armstrong Middle School will be closed on March 13 and May 15.

School will be in session March 13 and May 15 for students attending Independence Middle School and Bethel Park High School as those facilities are not used as polling places.

In the Bethel Park district, school is typically not in session on Election Day, but because of inclement weather and cancelling school due to threats, the board previously voted to hold school on election day and to increase security in the schools that are used as polling places.

Additionally, June 1, the last day of school for students, is now a full day of school for all students instead of a half-day.
