CBS All Access has its cast for the new streaming series “$1,” which begins filming this month in Pittsburgh, and it includes 2003 Carnegie Mellon University grad and “Hamilton” Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr., Jeff Perry (Cyrus Beene on soon-to-conclude “Scandal”) and veteran character actor John Carroll Lynch (”American Horror Story”).

The subscription streaming service, home to “Star Trek: Discovery” and “The Good Fight,” describes “$1” as a mystery set in Braden, a small Rust Belt town in post-recession America where a $1 bill changing hands connects characters involved in a multiple murder case.

Mr. Lynch plays Bud Carl, owner of Carl Steel, who is known to his employees as “Pop.” He recently let go of worker Ken Fry (new-to-acting country singer Sturgill Simpson), who now makes his living staging a never-ending yard sale of stolen goods. Garrett Drimmer (Philip Ettinger, “Girls”), a high school dropout, works in the lowest-paid position at Carl Steel.

Police chief Peter Trask (Chris Denham, “Billions”) is new on the job. Former town cop Jake Noveer (Nathaniel MartelloWhite, “Guerilla”) now works as a private investigator.

Mr. Odom plays Randall Abatsy, a Braden newcomer known for his charitable work and lavish parties. Mr. Perry was cast as a retired conman from Braden who is in declining health.

Rounding out the cast are Kirrilee Berger (”Just Add Magic”) as Dannie Furlbee and Gracie Lawrence (”Younger”) as Julie Gardner, high school students and best friends.

Matt DeRoss, Alexandre Dauman, Rafael Yglesias and Jason Mosberg will serve as executive producers. Craig Zobel (”The Leftovers”) will direct all episodes of the show’s first season.
