For the welfare of all in the city, be courteous and follow rules

-

I submit to PG readers for the good and welfare of our city these thoughts:

a) Even if it is, say, noon, if the weather is overcast/ rainy/blizzard-like, please turn on your car’s headlights; itmay prevent an accident.

b) Please put out recycling bags on the correct week so that you do not litter your neighborhood for a week.

c) If your car is parked outside during a significant snowstorm, please clean off all of your car — especially all the windows and the taillights — so that you can see other objects and other drivers can anticipateyour actions.

d) For pedestrians, especially those who walk to work or to bus stops in the early morning, please walk in the prior person’s footprints so that when the homeowner or businessowner arrives to shovel the sidewalk, the powdery untrampled snow can be easily cleaned off all the way down to the pavement for better long-term safety.

e) Since big potholes have already appeared, be careful when driving — especially since there is often a bicyclist around when one has to veer away from a road chasm at the last second.

f) Just because snow falls to cover the ground does not mean it is open season for littering on the sidewalk.

g) While I really love the colorful adornments to our median strips, etc., it would be more scenic and we’d have fewer eyesores if election candidates were to please remove their signs soon after they win or lose.

h) The solid line in or just before a tunnel prohibits changing lanes for a reason: the safety of other drivers. JEFF POLLOCK
