The search for Clarion University’s next president is down to four people.

Two deans and two vice presidents from schools in Michigan, Tennessee and Pennsylvania are visiting campus for interviews through this week. They are: • Dale-Elizabeth Pehrsson, since 2012 dean and professor of the College of Education and Human Services at Central Michigan University;

• David Urban, dean since 2013 of the Jennings A. Jones College of Business, Middle Tennessee State University;

• Amir Mohammadi, since 2015 the vice president for finance, administrative affairs and advancement services at Slippery Rock University;

• Dione Somerville, since 2011 vice president for student affairs at Bloomsburg University.

They are vying to succeed Karen Whitney, who is currently interim chancellor of the State System of Higher Education, of which Clarion and 13 other state universities are members.

Clarion trustees are tentatively slated to decide May 11 which two names to forward to the State System in Harrisburg as finalists. Ms. Whitney and the trustees will interview the final two and possibly make a decision May 21.

Officials extended the initial search and advertised the position a second time.
