Check out Antonio Brown’s extensive sneaker collection on ‘Complex Closets’

- By Maria Sciullo

What do you get the football star who has everything? In the case of Steelers receiver Antonio Brown, maybe a shoehorn?

Mr. Brown is featured this week on “Complex Closets,” a spinoff of Complex’s YouTube series, “Sneaker Shopping.” Although near the end of the episode he pulls a mint-colored jacket from his very extensive set of closet shelves (”I’m a Gucci suit kind of guy”), most of the nineminute online tour features collectible athletic shoes.

And what shoes they are: vintage Air Jordans, rare Chris Paul CP3 Air Jordans, a hybrid Nike/ Levi’s number in denim, Balenciagas, Kanye Yeezys, Louis Vuittons, Louboutins, etc.

The show’s host, Joe La Puma, gets the tour at one of Mr. Brown’s three homes — this is the Miami mansion featured last year on Animal Planet’s “Tanked” — where the player describes himself as “a simple guy.”

No. No, he isn’t. And that’s half the fun. Mr. Brown knows his 12room mansion — with a synagogue for his Jewish friends to “bless up” and massive fish tank and Versailles decor — is anything but simple.

His tastes reflect that, and he isn’t shy to list the names of these crazy expensive shoes and where he got them.

Jon Allon, aka Seppy, is a Pittsburgh-born Florida man who deals in shoes. Mr. Brown said Seppy is his go-to for many of the dozens of pairs of high-end footware neatly displayed on the shelves.

Some of the shoes are simply for collection, some are for show. LeBron James’ time in Miami made Mr. Brown a fan. So, of course there are more than a few of those models as well. The Cleveland star has made it known the feeling is mutual.

“Another thing that made news, when you signed your big contract,” Mr. La Puma began.

“Oh, which one?” interrupted Mr. Brown.

“The latest,” said the host, noting that Mr. James tweeted his congratulations.

“Complex Closets” is rather like watching an old episode of “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” crossed with “Cribs.” Even if nothing about Mr. Brown is “simple,” including what appears to be a new, interesting hairstyle, it’s fun to take a walk on the wild side.
