Victim identified in Shaler fire

Authoritie­s have identified the woman who died in a house fire in Shaler.

Dyann E. Carroll, 50, died atthe scene of the fire at 939 Middle Road, the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Tuesday. Neighbors reported seeing smoke about9 p.m. Monday.

Shaler Fire Chief Anthony Ferder bar said Ms. Carroll was found on the first floor. The cause of the blaze is under investigat­ion. Allegheny County police are also investigat­ing.

Ms. Carroll was a speech language pathologis­t at UPMC’s Canterbury Place in Lawrencevi­lle.

“She was a dedicated, well-liked and cheerful member of the UPMC team who truly made an impact on the residents and employees she worked with each day,” said Mark Bondi, president of UPMC Senior Communitie­s.
