New look for Jazz fest
Gregory Porter, Shemekia Copeland and Kenny Garrett are among the stars of this weekend’s free Pittsburgh International Jazz Festival, which moves from Penn to the wider Liberty Avenue, Downtown, presented by Citizens Bank.
Also performing will be Polly Gibbons, Terri Lyne Carrington, Cory Henry & the Funk Apostles, and Emmet Cohen. It begins at 12:45 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Marcus Miller concert and Taste of Jazz party on Friday at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture, Downtown, is sold out.
“The new name, new venue and expanded program will please our devoted jazz fest attendees and attract even more jazz lovers from around the world,” Janis Burley Wilson, president and CEO of the August Wilson Center, said in a statement.

‘On Your Feet!’
The rhythm is gonna get you when the songs and stories of Gloria and Emilio Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine are bundled into the musical “On Your
Feet!,” making its touring debut at the Benedum Center, Downtown, this week.

Ladies rock
Ladyfest Pittsburgh, the annual festival of female-fronted bands, hits Lawrenceville and Oakland with three days of music, ranging from acoustic to hip-hop to punk and indie-rock.
The DIY event, organized by members of The Lopez and Brazilian Wax and benefiting the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh and Girls Rock! Pittsburgh, will feature Clara Kent, Blak Rapp Madusa, Dinosoul, Little Good Bad, No Men and much more.
