A 23-year-old man died early Friday after he was shot in the leg in Crafton Heights, about 3½ years after his younger brother also died in a shooting.

Around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, Pittsburgh police found De’Von Dozier of Pittsburgh suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside an apartment in the Crafton Heights Townhomes in the 800 block of Woodlow Street.

He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition and died at 3:35 a.m. Friday, according to the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police believe Dozier was shot nearby and then ran into the

apartment, city police spokeswoman Alicia George said.

No arrests had been made, and police would not say whether anyone witnessed the shooting.

Dozier’s brother, Diondre Dozier, 17, was killed in a shootout in Sheraden on Nov. 17, 2014. Martin Brown, 18, also was killed in that shooting.

At the time, police found 75 shell casings in the street with four guns, including two military-style assault weapons with banana clips. Michael St. Clair, now 28, later pleaded no contest to third-degree murder charges in the two deaths.

Authorities believe St. Clair and two other people tried to rob Diondre Dozier and Brown during a gun deal. St. Clair was sentenced to 20 to 40 years in prison.

Relatives of the Dozier brothers could not be reached Friday.

De’Von Dozier pleaded guilty to felony drug and gun charges in 2016 and was sentenced to 11½ to 23 months in prison followed by five years of probation. He was released on parole in April 2017.
