A celebration of the completion of a permanent art installation by Patricia Bellan-Gillen will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, 10 Children’s Way, North Side.
Ms. Bellan-Gillen, an art professor for 29 years at Carnegie Mellon University, uniquely merges the folk, spiritual, mystical and contemporary aspects of her subjects. Her wall-sized rabbits and bear were created specifically for the Children’s Museum’s Nursery exhibit.
The event is free, but guestsare asked to bring a donation for the Humane Animal Rescue. Items needed may be found at www.humaneanimalrescue.org/donate/ Information: https://pittsburghkids.org or 412-322-5058.
Last chance for ‘Chaos’
Sunday is the last day to see “Visions of Order & Chaos: The Enlightened Eye, 1750-1850,” an ambitious exhibition at Carnegie Museum of Art in Oakland comprising objects selected to show similarities between our times and the changing world of the 18th-century Enlightenment.
Carnegie curator of fine art Louise Lippincott included more than 200 paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints and personal items from museum collections, many of which are rarely displayed. Some of the conventions and types represented are surprisingly familiar today.
“We can still learn about ourselves,” noted Ms. Lippincott, who retires July 1 after 27 years as Carnegie curator.
