Visitation set Friday for Port Vue fire victim

Visitation is Friday for a Port Vue woman who died days after being pulled from her burning home along with her 11-year-old son.

Faith Noll, 45, died Sunday, three days after an early-morning fire broke out in her Elmwood Street home, officials said.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV said a neighbor had to break the door in and climbed on the roof, but could not reach the mother and child. Firefighters eventually reached Ms. Noll and her son, Nathan, who were unresponsive on the second floor.

Both were taken to UPMC Mercy. The Allegheny County medical examiner’s office said Ms. Noll died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

According to the family, the fire started due to a faulty electrical socket in the living room, causing a couch to catch fire, KDKA reported.

Port Vue Assistant Fire Chief Don Williams said there were no working smoke detectors in the house.

Ms. Noll’s younger daughter, a registered nurse, said she will be taking her brother home from the hospital, probably on Tuesday, to live with her, KDKA reported.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Finney Funeral Home in Glassport.
