Trump rips James’ smarts

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Ahead of campaigning in Ohio on Saturday, President Donald Trump unleashed a withering attack on the state’s favorite son, savaging LeBron James in a late-night tweet that derided the intelligence of one of the nation’s most prominent African-American men.

Melania Trump’s spokeswoman quickly distanced the first lady from the criticism of Mr. James, saying in a statement Saturday afternoon that it appears Mr. James is “working to do good things on behalf of our next generation.” The statement doesn’t criticize the president. Mr. Trump blasted Mr. James after an interview the former Cleveland Cavaliers star did earlier in the week with CNN anchor Don Lemon in which he deemed Mr. Trump divisive.

Pilots protest federal study

Unions representing nearly 50 commercial airlines are protesting federal legislation to study the idea of putting cargo planes in the hands of only one pilot with the help of remote-control pilots on the ground.

But the dispute includes a mystery: Officials of pilots unions don’t know who put the language in the Federal Aviation Administration funding bill to study the idea of one pilot per cargo plane, or for what reason. The FAA bill sets aside $128.5 million to research the concept and other research topics.
