Rams, Donald still talking on extension
The Los Angeles Rams and defensive tackle Aaron Donald have not reached an agreement on a new contract, but general manager Les Snead intimated Wednesday that the sides were notcompletely at odds.
“We’re in the same ZIP code, area code, ballpark,” said Snead, who was with theRams in Baltimore. Sothe two sides are close? “ZIP code usually means you’re close,” Snead said, “but we still haven’t agreed.”
Donald, a Pitt graduate, is the reigning NFL defensive player of the year and remainsa holdout.
Colts
Indianapolis’ plan is for quarterback Andrew Luck to take some snaps against the Seahawks in Thursday’s preseason game. Luck hurt his right shoulder in September 2015 against Tennessee, missed two games, then returned to make four more startsbefore getting a seasonending lacerated kidney. He played through shoulder pain in 2016, then had surgery that sidelined him all of last season. It has been roughly 600 days between startsfor the Colts star.
49ers
San Francisco will honor former tight end Dwight Clark with a season-long celebration of his life that will include unveiling a statue of “The Catch.” Clark died in June at age 61. He had ALS. The statue outside Levi’s Stadium depicting the winning play of the 1981 NFC title game will be revealed on Oct. 21 when the 49ers play host to the Rams.
