Hunter-trapper courses scheduled for first-timers

The most ambitious would-be hunters already have completed a required hunter-trapper education course, enabling them to buy a license before the start of the 2018-19 seasons. Last-minute procrastinators will wait until Thanksgiving and complain that there’s not a convenient class that will get them into tree stands Nov. 26.
For the rest, the annual rush for hunter-trapper education starts now. By law all first-time hunters and trappers regardless of age are required to complete the course.
Training includes about four hours of online independent study prior to six hours of classroom training. A certification exam is given at the end of the class. Applicants must be at least 11 years old to participate. To register for a class and access the online training guide log onto the state Game Commission website at pgc.state.pa.us and click on the Hunter-Trapper Education Classes link.
