Health Care
Highmark Health named Dennis P. Brenckle to its board. Mr. Brenckle is the retired president of PNC Bank’s Central Pennsylvania Region.
Law
Tucker Arensberg, P.C. said Kevin J. Cummings joined as a member of its bankruptcy, insolvency and creditors’ rights practice group. Mr. Cummings concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate and commercial business transactions, creditors’ rights and real estate default and foreclosure.
Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank said Joanne Marcoz was elected to its board. Ms. Marcoz is the supervisor of pediatric case management at UPMC Health Plan. In addition, Alexandra Jones joined as administrative assistant.
The Creative Nonfiction Foundation added two new members to its organization:
Hannah Waltz, events and building manager and Yona
Harvey, foundation board member. Ms. Harvey is a poet and essayist, a contributing writer to Marvel Comics’ best-selling Black Panther series, and an assistant professor in the writing program at the University of Pittsburgh.
Greg Jena was named director of communications at Partners For Quality Inc.
The Children’s Home appointed Dr. Amy Nevin as president of the medical staff.

Awards and Honors
The National Alliance on Mental Illness awarded Dr. John Rozel with a 2018 Exemplary Psychiatrist Award. Dr. Rozel is the medical director of resolve Crisis Services, a program of Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC. He is board certified in general, child, and forensic psychiatry, and has more than 25 years of experience in emergency mental health. He was nominated by NAMI Keystone Pennsylvania.
Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT) announced the recipients of its 2018 research grants using innovative clinical approaches to find gene therapy treatments for solid cancers. They are: Dr. Joseph Glorioso, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Pittsburgh, and Gary Cohen, Ph.D., of the University of Pennsylvania, who are working together on a vaccine for melanoma. The grant is in the amount of $500,000.
Business notes
West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund made a $35,000 contribution to Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh to co-fund the construction of its Carrick location. The contribution will help support the construction of CLP – Carrick to Passive House high performance building standards, which reduces the building’s ecological footprint and results in an ultra-low energy building that requires little energy for space heating or cooling.
S & B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd. said its Northeast Operations office has moved to 1000 Town Center Way, Suite 200, Canonsburg. The new location, maintained by Kossman Development Co., includes approximately 10,000 square feet of office space and will accommodate over 60 personnel.
KU Resources Inc. has joined with R F Mitall & Associates, a Plum Borough based engineering firm in establishing the Mitall, a Division of KU Resources. This new venture expands KU Resources’ services and the added technical depth of 13 professional and technical staff. Robert Mitall will stay on as president of the Mitall Division.
