Beaver Falls is getting back on track

all had that experience last year,” Beaver Falls coach Nick Nardone said. “None of them were starting in their first varsity football game because every one of them, at some point last year, played, whether they were a starter at the beginning of the year or they had to step in because a guy in front of them got hurt. They all got a ton of experience, and experience is huge.”

While the Tigers return several experienced young players, a handful of this year’s seniors started as sophomores on that state championship team, and knowwhat it feels like to win. They’ll be looking for more of that this year, Little said.

“We definitely just want to at first make the playoffs, and the end goal is to obviously win the championship,” Little said. “We want to have a great season so we can have a good last ride. We just want to show that we had an off year last year. We had new guys coming in. We just want to showthat we’re way more experienced now and that we’re just not going to have a bad season.”

Beaver Falls will face SouthPark 7 p.m. Friday.

“Getting off on the right foot and getting that win obviously builds your confidence, but we don’t want to get overly confident in ourselves,” Nardone said. “We face a great team this week in South Park. We have to treat this week like a playoff week. South Park’s been a playoff team every year for the last however many years, and we weren’t a playoff team last year, so we’re the underdogs.”
