Goodwill to close two stores in region

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania said its store on East Ohio Street on the North Side will close at the end of September, and its store on Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Whitehall will close at the end of October. Both leases will expire. Goodwill is searching for another location for a store on the North Side, said David Tobiczyk, Goodwill spokesman. Sales at the Whitehall location were likely hurt by a newer Goodwill store in West Mifflin, he said. Goodwill currently operates 28 stores in Pennsylvania and six in West Virginia.

Three closed YMCA branches listed for sale

Three branches of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh that closed in August have been listed for sale. Hanna Langholz Wilson Ellis is handling the sale of the former YMCAs in Wilmerding, Penn Hills and Moon. The branches were shuttered Aug. 31 as part of an ongoing restructuring. The former Wilmerding YMCA at 1 Memorial Drive, which includes 30,000 square feet, is listed for $1.6 million. The former Penn Hills YMCA at 11817 Frankstown Road is 31,000 square feet and priced at $1.8 million. The former Western Area YMCA at 195 Montour Run Road in Moon has 57,600 square feet and is listed for $2.2 million. That building sustained $650,000 in damages when a severe June storm flooded the facility.

Koppers adds 3 directors, including two women

Koppers Holdings has added three directors. The Downtownbased maker of chemicals and wood treatment products said the election of new directors is part of its board succession process in anticipation of two current directors retiring next year. Those who joined effective Monday are Traci Jensen, senior vice president, global construction adhesives at H.B. Fuller Co., St. Paul, Minn.; David Motley, general partner with BlueTree Venture Fund, Wexford; and Sonja Wilkerson, senior vice president, human resources, Infinera Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif. Set to retire next year under the company’s age-restriction guidelines are Cynthia Baldwin and T. Michael Young.
