Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s Voyage at Sea

-

#SweptAway: There was no better way to start the new season of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra than a Mediterranean-inspired gala complete with the musical stylings of world-renowned soprano Renee Fleming. The excitement was palpable as guests poured into the outdoor garden outside of Heinz Hall on Saturday night. It was inspiring to see the number of young people who flocked to be a part of this very special evening. “It’s time for us to step up,” said soiree co-chair Casey Pratkanis, who was stunning in a Marchesa gown, with husband and cochair Jon. “Millennials are the largest demographic and if we want to have one of the best symphonies in the world, we have to invest ourselves in that cause,” she said. Soiree auction cochairs Alex and Harris Heit echoed that sentiment. “The symphony is our number one priority. It is world class and was one of the reasons we want to be in Pittsburgh,” said Alex Heit. Speaking of auction items, the bidder who won the private dinner at Jerry Morosco’s home catered by star chef Jamilka Borges should know I’m available on whatever night that is.

#LegacyMatters: Chairing this year’s gala were Andre and Maria Heinz. “The symphony is a critical part of this city’s cultural fabric and of our community. Because of its international reputation it has put this region on the global map and we will work to keep it that way,” said Mr. Heinz.
