-

#PaintTheTown: The silent disco was back by popular demand Thursday night at Amachi Pittsburgh’s Amachi Hachi Pachi benefit Painting Brighter Futures at Riverfront Park in Aspinwall. Wearing headphones and dancing to your own beat was just part of the fun for 250 guests. The event began with a VIP reception overlooking a painterly sunset on the river and the sounds of the Center of Life Jazz Band.

For 15 years, Amachi has been helping children whose parents are incarcerated. Programs include one-on-one mentoring and Amachi Ambassadors. The party’s artistic theme included live speed painter Cody Sabol as well as an interactive experience to bring out the artist in everyone. JPC Event Group catered the party with chicken sliders, a nacho bar and more. Christina O’Toole and Rick Stern chaired the benefit, which honored Kevin Smith (with wife Sheryl and daughters Erin and Rachel) and John Wetzel, secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections. “This is my second time chairing the event and I am honored because it is such a great cause for kids in need,” said Ms. O’Toole Among those enjoying the colorful evening with great tunes by DJ Selecta and DJ Metromix John Hohman were Amachi director Anna Hollis (with Gregg Kander), event planner Alexis Allen, Mike Brown, Curtis Randle El, Will Carpenter and Stacy Weiss, Gayle Moss, Jon Ray, Jim Sed and Joyce Douglass, Alexis Fisher, Amy and Lou Weiss, Steve Mendelson and Toni Chiappini, Bill Perry with Lisa DeLeo and Amer Kahwash.
