Bazaar: A Micro Immersive Carnival

-

The Place: The Old Glenshaw Glass Factory and Pennsylvania Pure Distilleries inShaler.

The Party: Bazaar: A Micro Immersive Carnival to benefit Bricolage Production Company was a one-of-a-kind experience that featured 12 intimate pods created by local artists that offered guests a mix of installation art and theater. “The creativity here is off the hook,” said Jeffrey Carpenter, artistic director and co-founder of Bricolage. There were plenty of carnival games and performances, including Joseph Kerr the fire breather, acrobatics by ThaCrowBats and fire gypsy Kai Phoenix. DJ Pandemic kept the soundtrack carnival-cool as guests gathered to take a shot at the dunk tank, play ring toss and visit the food trucks. John Spellman of the Shady Dog was serving up hot dogs. A VIP lounge was set up in the Boyd & Blair distillery, where tours were also being offered. “For the last six years, we have not done any plays,” said Tami Dixon, Bricolage’s cofounder. “We have done immersive work so it was time that our fundraiser reflects who we are now.” She said the immersive pods are perfect for people who are afraid to do immersive theater. “We just want to have fun.”
