Kavanaugh’s future should rest on other factors
Among the reasons to deny Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh a seat on the court, his alleged misconduct at the age of 17 should not be of major consequence. Of course the facts on the matter will and should be heard by the public before the decision is made.
Judge Kavanaugh, through his own perseverance, managed to build a highly prominent career in law and has led an exemplary personal life. Isn’t it just possible that such a man could turn his life around following one foolish teenage indiscretion?
Surely with such a vital position at stake, his confirmation will be based on his views and ability to serve, not on an allegation he firmly denies. BILL SCHWARTZ
Scott This may not stop pedophilia, but it would give a priest a choice.
I feel until this rule is changed, the abuse within the Catholic Church will continue. Priests do not become pedophiles; pedophiles become priests. ALBERTA BANASZAK

Bell is a great player, and he deserves a lot of money, yet in pursuit of that lucrative contract, does he forget all those players who helped make him a premier running back? What about his coaches, his quarterback who threw him those swing passes, and especially those linemen who blocked for him? Was he thinking about them by not returning to the team?
Le’Veon Bell has the potential to become a Hall of Famer, yet those who really know him may judge him by a different standard. Was it all about Le’Veon or the team?

I watched the NASCAR and IndyCar races on Sunday with great interest because there were cars from Pittsburgh’s own Chip Ganassi Racing in both races.
In the NASCAR race, Kyle Larson was able to finish second and continue his quest for a championship season.
In the IndyCar race, Scott Dixon would win the 2018 championship if he finished ahead of Alexander Rossi. Scott finished ahead of Rossi and won his fifth IndyCar Championship with the Chip Ganassi Racing team.
The purpose of my letter is to let your readers know about the Chip Ganassi Racing team’s successes since there were not any articles about them in the Monday or Tuesday Post-Gazette. Instead, the articles were about players and their antics on social media!
I found an article in the Chicago Tribune about Scott Dixon winning his fifth championship. SAM DENNEY Uniontown
