Fox Chapel Area school may reopen Monday
The Fox Chapel Area School District hopes to resume classes at Kerr Elementary School on Monday.
The school has been closed since Friday because of a mold issue. The district announced Wednesday that the school would be closed to students Thursday and Friday.
Superintendent Gene Freeman said the district “has contracted with environmental professionals specializing in mold for pre- and post-remediation testing, a mold remediation company to remove the mold and environmental contaminants and disinfect the building, and an HVAC contractor to reinsulate the mechanical system which is where we believe the mold originated.”
He said the district also contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Education to determine whether students will have to make up the missed days.
