The Peters Township Federation of Teachers and the school district have reached an agreement to extend the current teachers contract to June 30, 2024.

The board approved the agreement Monday by an 8-0 vote. Board member Jamison Hardy was absent.

The current contract was set to expire June 30, 2021. The union represents the district’s 279 teachers, counselors and nurses.

Under the new agreement, teachers will receive a $1,400 annual salary increase effective for the 2021-22 school year.

According to the district, the agreement also includes changes in health care that “financiall­y benefit the district while maintainin­g quality healthcare options for the staff.”

“This agreement helps us to maintain our positive relationsh­ip with the Federation,” said Brad Rau, business manager for the district.

Kristofer Bergman, president of the PTFT said of the agreement, “This contract is a step forward for the staff and our community.”

MT. LEBANON

The school board on Sept. 11 ratified a fiveyear collective bargaining agreement with the Mt. Lebanon Education Associatio­n, representi­ng the district’s teachers.

The contract term is from July 1 of this year through June 30, 2023, with a five year-average salary increase of 3.9 percent.

The agreement provides teachers with additional preparatio­n opportunit­ies during the workday, minimizes teacher absences during the student day and “ensures that the Mt. Lebanon School District will continue to provide a premier education for its students while offering a collaborat­ive work environmen­t for its teachers,” according to a district statement.
