Blue Devils storm past Hempfield

As it has in all of its wins, Mt. Lebanon lit up the scoreboard Friday night.

The Blue Devils (3-3, 3-2) won for the first time in their past three tries with a 37-6 victory at Hempfield in a Quad County Conference game.

Seth Morgan threw for 219 yards and a touchdown and ran for another 87 yards and two scores. Mt. Lebanon racked up 460 total yards compared to 189 for the Spartans.

In their three wins, the Blue Devils have averaged 41.3 points. When they lose, they average just 8.3.

After winning its first game of the season, Hempfield (1-5, 0-5) has dropped five in a row. The Spartans scored in the fourth quarter when Roman Pellis caught a 14-yard strike from Lucas Guy.

Norwin 42, Butler 0: The visiting Knights (3-3, 2-2) used an all-around effort to snap a two-game losing streak and score a Quad County Conference win. The defense caused six Butler fumbles and recovered three. Ethan Nelson returned one of those fumbles 26 yards for a score in the second quarter. Jack Salopek connected on 7 of 13 passes for 226 yards and the first three touchdowns of the game. Salopek added a 4-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Butler’s Kyler Callihan rushed for 134 yards. Butler fell to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in conference play.

Canon-McMillan 35, Peters Township 26: Josh O’Hare rumbled for 214 yards and three scores to lead the Big Macs (2-3) to a non-conference victory at Peters Township (4-2). O’Hare scored on runs of 1, 35 and 23 yards. Drew Angle scored two times from both sides of the ball. He brought back an intercepti­on 24 yards for the first score of the game. In the third quarter, he hauled in a 15-yard pass from Jon Quinque. Angle caught six passes for 101 yards. Quinque completed 13 of 21 passes for 198 yards. Peters Township’s Logan Pfeuffer was 21 for 30 and 297 yards. He found Jackson McCluskey and Aiden McCall for touchdowns.
