Quakers upset Golden Eagles in OT

Ethan Moore threw for three touchdowns and ran for three more, including the winning score in overtime, to lead Quaker Valley to a 50-43 road upset of Keystone Oaks in a Tri-County West Conference game played Friday night at Dormont Stadium.

Moore rushed for 190 yards on 30 carries and scored on runs of 2, 8, and 50 yards. He also threw touchdown passes to Demetrious Perez, Ryan Jackovic and Cameron Nelson. The 10-yard scoring pass to Nelson provided the deciding points.

The score was tied, 22-22, at halftime and 43-43 at the end of regulation. Quaker Valley (2-3, 2-2) evened its record in the conference. Keystone Oaks (4-2, 2-2) was ranked No. 4 in the WPIAL in Class 3A.

Keystone Oaks was led by C.J. Morrow, who caught 11 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns. All three scoring passes came from Logan Shrubb.

More Class 3A

Aliquippa 65, Hopewell 0: The topranked Quips (6-0, 4-0) dominated the Vikings (2-4, 1-2) in a Tri-County West Conference home game.

North Catholic 49, Mt. Pleasant 7: Zack Rocco ran for three touchdowns and threw for another, as the Trojans (5-1, 3-1) dominated the visiting Vikings (1-5, 1-3) in the Big East Conference. Rocco rushed for 75 yards on 5 carries and scored on runs of 22, 5 and 10 yards. He also completed 3 of 4 passes for 64 yards and connected with Tyree Brown on a 32-yard scoring pass. The Trojans, who led, 49-0, at halftime, scored their first touchdown on a 60-yard punt return by Rashad Allen. The Trojans put up 352 yards of total offense, including 250 on the ground.

Freeport 20, Yough 0: Austin Romanchak threw for one touchdown and ran for another, as the Yellow Jackets (2-3, 2-3) blanked the visiting Cougars (3-3, 2-2) in the Big East Conference. Romanchak ran 17 yards for a touchdown and connected with Garret Schaffhaus­er on a 7-yard scoring pass. Freeport’s other touchdown came on an 8-yard run by Conor Selinger.

Central Valley 41, Waynesburg 14: Ameer Dudley threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third to lead the Warriors (2-4, 2-2) to a convincing win over the visiting Raiders (1-5, 0-4) in the Tri-County West Conference. Dudley completed 7 of 9 passes for 139 yards and connected with Michael Barbuto on a 35-yard touchdown, and with Jawon Hall on a 32-yard scoring pass. He also ran 9 yards for a touchdown. Luke Robinson scored twice for Waynesburg in the fourth quarter on runs of 15 and 57 yards.

Class 4A

Thomas Jefferson 56, Connellsvi­lle 14: The top-ranked Jaguars (5-0) remained unbeaten with this non-conference road victory over the Falcons (2-4). Max Shaw scored five touchdowns in the first half on runs of 23, 6, 1, 24 and 5 yards, as the Jaguars built a halftime lead of 42-0. Shane Stump completed 7 of 11 passes for the Jaguars for 188 yards, connecting with Dan Deabner on a 34-yard scoring pass. Deabner caught 5 passes for 184 yards.

Belle Vernon 48, Greensburg Salem 14: Mason Pascoe rushed for 256 yards on 19 carries and scored four touchdowns as the No. 3 Leopards (4-1,3-1) dominated the Golden Lions (2-4, 2-1) in the Big Eight Conference.

Pascoe scored on runs of 48, 70, 6 and 48 yards. Pascoe improved his season totals to 990 yards on 91 carries.

West Mifflin 48, Laurel Highlands 13: Parrish Parker rushed for 303 yards on 17 carries and scored four touchdowns to lead the Titans (3-3, 3-0) to a convincing Big Eight Conference road victory over the Mustangs (2-4, 0-3). Parker, who has 862 yards for the season, scored on runs of 27, 61, 22, and 72 yards. West Mifflin capped the scoring with a 92-yard kickoff return by Andre Spencer.

Indiana 27, Trinity 21: The Indians (2-4, 2-3) needed overtime to beat the Hillers (14, 1-4) in this Big Eight Conference game.

Montour 35, Knoch 33: Gannon Kadlecik threw for one touchdown and ran for a second as the Spartans (1-5, 1-2) claimed their first win of the season in this Northwest Eight Conference win over the visiting Knights (2-4, 2-3). Kadlecik rushed for 144 yards on 26 carries and scored on a 3-yard run. He also connected with Anthony Tambellini on a halfback-option pass. Knoch’s Matt Goodlin led all rushers with 215 yards on 22 carries. He scored on runs of 14 and 83 yards.

New Castle 14, South Park 6: Demetris McKnight caught nine passes for 140 yards, but also threw for a touchdown, as the Hurricanes (3-3) posted a narrow nonconfere­nce victory over the visiting Eagles (1-4). McKnight connected with Payne Prowell on a 7-yard scoring pass. New Castle’s other touchdown came on a 33-yard run by Josh Thomason. South Park’s only score came on a 17-yard pass from Stephen Kmonk, who completed 12 of 21 attempts for 109 yards.
