ILLUMINATION

-

#ShineBright: Carnegie Science Center on the North Shore was illuminated like you’ve never #SEEN before on Saturday night as the talented team from LUXE Creative transformed PointView Hall into a feast for the senses. The new space overlooking the city skyline provided the perfect backdrop for celebrating Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh. The event kicked off in the VIP Luminary Lounge before guests enjoyed an exclusive viewing of BBBS accomplishments in the Rangos Giant Cinema. “We reached 1,512 children last year, and events like this allow us to continue the great work of providing consistent care in our children’s lives,” said executive director Jan Glick. Devon Taliaferro, BBBS program associate, has been working on a new initiative: Bigs in Blue, which connects local police officers to youth. “In light of all of the things going on in communities and recognizing that we serve brown and black children, we felt that it was important for children to have mentorship from police officers,” she said. “We need them to see officers as people who can help and who they can trust. We also want the officers to feel more connected to the children that they are serving and protecting and hopefully can help to bridge some of those gaps.” To learn more, go to bbbspgh.org.
