Landy Mertz scored in overtime to lift Upper St. Clair to a 4-3 victory against Pine-Richland in the WPIAL Class 4A quarterfin­als.

Mertz and fellow senior Nikki Gibbons each scored twice for the Panthers (13-3).

More Class 4A

Peters Township 2, Butler 1: Hannah Stuck broke a 1-1 tie with a goal midway through the second half to propel the Indians (15-3) into the semifinals.

Seneca Valley 6, Mt. Lebanon 1: The Raiders (14-2) got goals from six different players. Breanna Valentovis­h led the charge with a goal and two assists.

Norwin 2, North Allegheny 1: A first-half goal from Lacey Bernick and a second-half score by Anna Durmis was all the offense the Knights (152) needed.

Class 3A

Hampton 1, Ambridge 0: With 23 seconds remaining in overtime, senior Courtney Coholich drew a penalty and buried the ensuing penalty kick to put the Talbots (12-6) into the semifinals. Hampton’s freshman keeper Sophie Kelly was solid again with a second shutout in a row.

Oakland Catholic 3, Kiski Area 0: Goalie Maggie Storti came up big to earn the shutout. Hannah Henn provided the offense with two goals for Oakland Catholic (16-1), which has won 16 in a row.

Mars 3, Montour 0: Taylor Hamlett started the scoring for Mars off of a corner kick midway through the first half. Ellie Coffield and Samantha King followed with goals of their own to help the Planets (17-0) align themselves in the semifinals. Mars goalie Claire Valentine has not allowed a postseason goal.

South Fayette 3, West Allegheny 1: After a scoreless first half for both teams, Helina VanBibber had a goal and an assist to lead the Lions (11-6-1) to the win.

Class 2A

Avonworth 1, Waynesburg 0: Jessica Lamperski provided the winner in a 5-4 shootout. Avonworth (13-5-2) goalie Miranda Chrvala stopped the final shot from Waynesburg (13-6), last season’s WPIAL champion.

South Park 6, Freeport 1: After allowing a quick goal to Freeport’s Sidney Shemanski three minutes into the match, it was all South Park from there. Haleigh Finale and Avery Miklos each scored twice for the Eagles (17-2).

Hopewell 4, Burrell 2: After a two-win season last year, Hopewell is now in the district semifinals. Raychel Speicher, a junior, scored twice for the Vikings (14-1-1).

Deer Lakes 2, Quaker Valley 1: Nina Lafko and Ashley McAdams each scored for the Lancers (17-1-1).

Class 1A

Bentworth 3, Bishop Canevin 2: Paige Marshalek capped a two-goal performanc­e with the game-winner in overtime. The Crusaders (11-4-1) took a 2-1 lead midway through the second half before Bentworth (16-2) was able to tie thanks to Jocelyn Timlin’s 45th goal of the year.

Shady Side Academy 9, Seton LaSalle 0: Autumn was in season for the Indians, as freshman Autumn Casey picked up a hat trick to put Shady Side Academy (11-3) into the semifinals. Senior Sophia McMahon chipped in two goals for the victors.

Greensburg Central Catholic 8, OLSH 1: Thanks to three first-half goals from Sam Nemeth, the Centurions (12-2) raced to a 6-0 halftime lead and cruised into the semifinals.

Freedom 5, Springdale 3: The Bulldogs (18-1) built up a 5-1 lead by the second half. Michaela Watkins and Myla Sharpless scored two goals apiece to pace Freedom.
