WTAE alters weekend lineup
WTAE-TV Channel 4 is promoting reporter Brittany Hoke to weekend evening anchor and adding meteorologist Alex Alecci to the newscast. They’ll join weekend coanchor Ryan Recker beginning next week..
“Brittany Hoke has established herself as the go-to reporter in Westmoreland and Fayette counties,” said Jim Parsons, news director. “Our viewers know that if there’s a big story, Brittany is the trusted source for upto-the-minute information.”
Ms. Hoke, a native of Connellsville and a Point Park University graduate, has news anchor experience from working at two West Virginia stations: Clarksburg (WDTV-TV) and Charleston (WSAZ-TV). She joined WTAE in June 2017.
She replaces Jackie Cain, whose last day on-air was Oct. 19. Ms. Cain is going to anchor the news at KSTPTV in Minneapolis.
Mr. Alecci was chief meteorologist at KDLT-TV in Sioux Falls, S.D., and is a licensed pilot. He also worked at KETV-TV in Omaha, Neb., and has, if judging from his Twitter account, already arrived in the city.
“I’m really loving the city of Pittsburgh!” he tweeted Wednesday, beneath a photo of the nighttime Pittsburgh skyline.
He replaces Ray Petelin, whose contract at WTAE was not renewed this year. Mr. Petelin is now at KDKATV.
“As a veteran of severe weather — from tornadoes and snow storms in Omaha and Sioux Falls to hurricanes in Florida — Alex brings experience that will serve Western Pennsylvanians well,” Mr. Parsons said.
