Cousins is ejected while on the bench
DeMarcus Cousins isn’t even playing for Golden State yet and he has been ejected from a game.
Cousins was thrown out in the first quarter of a Warriors game Friday night against the host New York Knicks.
It was unclear what happened with the volatile center, who was sitting in street clothes on the Golden State bench not far from where Stephen Curry had made a 3pointer.
As play resumed following a timeout, it was announced that Cousins had been assessed a technical foul in the break, and then subsequently ejected.
Cousins is still recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon. He took part in his first practice Thursday with the Warriors, but there is still no timetable for his return to action.
Timberwolves
Forward Andrew Wiggins missed his second game with a right quadriceps contusion as Minnesota played host to Milwaukee. While Wiggins was declared out less than an hour before the game, the Timberwolves did have guard Jimmy Butler in the starting lineup. Butler had been considered questionable with an illness.
76ers
Philadelphia was dealt another injury blow Friday when Joel Embiid rolled his left ankle. Near the end of practice, in a drill, Embiid came down on Amir Johnson’s foot. Because of the injury, a “slight roll of the ankle,” Embiid is listed as questionable for a game Saturday against the Charlotte Hornets at Wells Fargo Center.
Pistons
Guard Luke Kennard has an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder and he is expected to miss at least two weeks. Kennard was injured Thursday night in a win against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Hawks
Forward Alex Poythress will miss at least three games after being injured in a home-opening win against Dallas. The team said Poythress sustained a capsular sprain and bone bruise to his left knee.
