Arians hints at a return to coach ... Cleveland

-

Former Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians told The Canton Repository that the Cleveland Browns’ head-coaching position is the only job for which he would be willing to come out of retirement.

“Cleveland is the only job I would consider,” said Arians, who was in Cleveland with CBS as part of the broadcast team for a game Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Arians, 66, also touted his former boss with the Indianapolis Colts as a possibility for Browns general manager John Dorsey to consider.

“My guy would be Chuck Pagano,” Arians told the newspaper.

According to ESPN, Arians said he is enjoying retirement from coaching and that enticing him to return to football would be a tough sell. He now lives on a lake in Georgia, plays golf and works as an analyst for CBS, all of which are things he enjoys.

“I don’t know if anything will come of this, but the door is slightly cracked,” he said.

Bengals

Receiver A.J. Green was getting his injured right foot examined Monday while his teammates returned from a week of rest. He was hurt in a victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the week off. He wore a protective boot last week and indicated the move was precautionary, but it turned out to be more severe than initially thought. The Bengals (5-3) likely will be missing their most indispensable receiver heading into a game Sunday against the New Orleans Saints (7-1) at Paul Brown Stadium.

Jaguars

Running back Leonard Fournette practiced for the first time in more than a month. But coach Doug Marrone stopped short of proclaiming Fournette back or ready to return Sunday at Indianapolis.

Broncos

Team president and general manager John Elway said he’s going to “stay the course” with coach Vance Joseph despite his 8-17 record. Elway told Broncos broadcasting partner Orange & Blue 760 that he’s encouraged by the team’s improvement despite its 3-6 record, which is identical to its 2017 markafter nine games.
