Rams escape L.A. wildfires in Colorado

-

The Rams originally wanted to train in Colorado to acclimate to the altitude ahead of their game against the Chiefs in Mexico City. The NFL moved the game to Los Angeles when the stadium turf in Mexico was deemed unfit.

But the Rams went ahead with the Colorado plans, figuring it was best to get a respite from the wildfires and smoke and do some midseason team bonding like the Patriots did last year.

“It’s been a little bit wild for sure, but with that being said, there’s a lot more people dealing with a lot worse than what we’re dealing with right now,” quarterback Jared Goff said. “We’re the lucky ones and we’re having a good time out here in Colorado.”

Raiders

Oakland practiced at an off-site facility in Alameda, Calif., for a second consecutive day as thick smoke from California’s deadly wildfires blanketed the Bay Area.

Packers

Mike McCarthy knows his job is on the line. Green Bay’s 13-year head coach acknowledged he is aware that the team’s 45-1 record has led to questions about his future. But he insists he and the team are focused on next week’s pivotal matchup with the Vikings. “That’s the job. That’s the way this business has gone,” McCarthy said. “We set a standard here the past 12 years, and it’s our responsibility to play to that standard.”

Bengals

Cincinnati is leaving a slight possibility that receiver A.J. Green could play Sunday at Baltimore even though he hasn’t practiced the past two weeks because of a toe injury. Green initially was listed Friday as out for the pivotal game. Cincinnati later did an about-face and listed him as doubtful.

Broncos

Left guard Max Garcia is out for the season after a knee ligament was torn in practice. An MRI revealed the tear of the ACL. Garcia is the third Denver starting offensive linemen to suffer a season-ending injury, joining center Matt Paradis and guard Ronald Leary.
