Tonge moves up scoring list as RMU rallies for win

Robert Morris senior winger Michael Louria scored a goal with 2:17 left in overtime to complete a dramatic comeback for the Colonials hockey team in a 2-1 road victory at Sacred Heart (3-8-2, 3-6-1 AHC).

The Colonials (6-7-1, 5-4-1) have won three of four overall and two of their past three away from home.

Alex Tonge scored with 4:10 left in the third, forcing overtime time. Tonge’s score gave the senior 113 points with the Colonials, passing RMU Hall of Famer Denny Urban for seventh on the program’s all-time scoring list.

Rookie defender Wasyn Rice scored her first goal and Jaycee Gebhard and Amber Rennie also scored in a 3-2 win as the Colonials (7-8-4, 5-1-1 CHA) beat visiting Penn State (7-8-2, 2-5-0).

Golf

Defending champion Cameron Smith shot a 5-under 67 to increase his lead to three strokes over Marc Leishman (69) after three rounds of the Australian PGA Championsh­ip in Gold Coast. Smith had a 54-hole 14-under 202.

• Kurt Kitayama and Justin Harding were tied for the lead at 16 under par and held a three-shot advantage heading into the final round of the Mauritius Open in Beau Champ.

Skiing

Max Franz of Austria conquered the snow and fog for his first World Cup super-G victory at Beaver Creek, Colo. Franz finished in 1:01.91, holding off Mauro Caviezel of Switzerlan­d by 0.33 seconds.

• Nicole Schmidhofe­r of Austria won a World Cup downhill at Lake Louise, Alberta. Schmidhofe­r had a time of 1 minute, 47.68 seconds for the victory.

Harness racing

Windsong Leo knifed through the slop to collect his 19th win this season — and third in a row — in an $18,000 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
