Ex-Penguin Sprong wasted little time scoring first goal as Duck

-

It took six minutes and one second to be exact for former Penguins winger Daniel Sprong to score his first NHL goal this season and first, of course, as an Anaheim Duck.

Sprong, who never seemed to fit right with the Penguins, was dealt to the Ducks Monday in exchange for defenseman Marcus Pettersson and made his debut in Anaheim Wednesday night in a 4-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks.

His goal was set up by new linemates Adam Henrique and Nick Ritchie.

Capitals

Washington forward Tom Wilson did not play against the host Arizona Coyotes Thursday night after he sustained a concussion in the Captials game Tuesday night against the Golden Knights in Las Vegas.

Blue Jackets

Columbus defenseman Seth Jones scored visiting Columbus’ first and last goal in a 4-3 overtime victory Thursday night against the Philadelphia Flyers. By the way, that second one came just 10 seconds into overtime and gave Jones five for the season. Philadelphia’s Travis Sandheim scored consecutive third-period goals — his first two this season — to rally the struggling Flyers and force the overtime.

Lightning

Anthony Cirelli’s fifth goal of the season— shorthanded, no less — proved to be the winner as host Tampa Bay won its fifth game in a row by nipping Boston, 3-2, Thursday night. The goal came at 4:-3 of the third period. Tampa Bay now has 45 points to lead NHL’s overall standings.
