Oklahoma State cleans troubled house

-

Oklahoma State kicked guard Michael Weathers and forwards Maurice Calloo and Kentrevious Jones off the team Wednesday due to a violation of rules.

“We have a standard of behavior that we expect from everyone in our program, and we’re going to move forward with the people who want to abide by those standards,” coach Mike Boynton said.

Oklahoma State (8-9, 2-3 Big 12) has been riddled with problems all year. Just last week, graduate transfer guard Mike Cunningham left the program.

The moves leave the Cowboys with nine available players on their roster.

Kansas State

Barry Brown scored 25 points and Dean Wade added 20 to help Kansas State (13-4, 3-2 Big 12) beat host No. 20 Oklahoma (13-4, 2-3), 74-61. It was Kansas State’s second win in a row against a ranked team — the Wildcats won Saturday at Iowa State. It also was Wade’s second game back since missing six starts with a torn tendon in his left foot.

Auburn

Bryce Brown scored all but two of his 22 points in the first half and No. 14 Auburn routed Texas A&M, 85-66, at College Station, Texas. The Tigers (13-3, 2-1 SEC) won on the road for the first time in league play this season. They dominated the Aggies (7-8, 1-3) from the start and never looked back.

Notre Dame

Jessica Shepard had 20 points and 11 rebounds and No. 1 Notre Dame (17-1, 5-0 ACC) took command with a 24-1 run in the second quarter to beat the Virginia Tech women (13-4, 0-4), 80-51. The game also marked the first on-court matchup of sisters Marina Mabrey, a Notre Dame senior, and Dara Mabrey, a freshman for the Hokies.

Indiana

Lindsey Pulliam scored a season-high 27 points and Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah had the 30th double-double of her career as visiting Northwestern (10-7, 3-3 Big Ten) defeated No. 25 Indiana, 75-69. Ali Patberg had 22 for the Hoosiers (15-3, 4-2). Veronica Burton hit five 3pointers and contributed a career-high 19 points for the Wildcats and Kunaiyi-Akpanah added 11 in the win.
