TJ stuns Connellsville for 30-29 victory
Penalty point puts Falcons in a hole
Thomas Jefferson’s wrestling program might have recorded a first Wednesday in its match at Connellsville. The Jaguars defeated the Falcons, 30-29, to finish first in Class 3A Section 2A, and a penalty point for unsportsmanlike conduct called on the Falcons after the 145-pound bout was the deciding point.
“I can’t remember the last time Thomas Jefferson beat Connellsville,” Jaguars coach Michael Ladick admitted. “In fact, it may be the first time we’ve ever beat them. It’s a big step for our program.”
Dom Serpiglia (285), Brendan Finnerty (145) recorded pins for Thomas Jefferson (5-0), ranked No. 8 in WPIAL Class 3A. Mason Prinkey (113) had a pin for Connellsville (4-1).
It was Finnerty’s match that led to the decisive penalty.
