ALL WEEKEND: “Game On,” the world-premiere musical comedy (with lots of heart), is at the Greer Cabaret, Downtown, through Jan. 27. THURSDAY: Brandon Ray’s father was into Stevie Ray Vaughan and Steely Dan, his two brothers turned him on to Metallica and Nirvana, and his mom loved George Strait and the like. FRIDAY: You can probably guess from the name that Pittsburgh band Lone

Pines — singer-guitarist Josh Chamberlai­n, bassist Rick Lagnese and drummer Tony Lupinacci — plays in a rootsy folk vein, citing its influences as Mumford and Sons, The Avett Brothers, Whitney, The Lumineers, and Boy and Bear. This is the release show for its debut album, “Some Folks,” at Cattivo, Lawrencevi­lle. 7 p.m. $10 advance; $12 door; ticketfly.com.

FRIDAY: Pittsburgh “pop-folk fantasy” band Moonspeake­r, complete with violin, releases its debut album, “Gravity,” on a bill with Two Coins Trio at Club Cafe, South Side. 10:15 p.m. $10; ticketweb.com.

SATURDAY: You won’t see it in the national year-end lists, but Pittsburgh rootsrocke­r Paul Luc released one of the best albums of 2018 with “Bad Seed.” He starts 2019 with a full band performanc­e at Club Cafe, South Side, joined by Nik Westman. 8 p.m. $12; ticketweb.com. SATURDAY: Crash Test Dummies,

the Canadian rock band led by croaking frontman Brad Roberts, are reuniting for the first time in 17 years to celebrate the 25th anniversar­y of their breakout sophomore album, “God Shuffled His Feet,” which they will play in its entirety.
