NBA teams get a head start on the Thursday trade deadline.

-

Philadelphia traded Landry Shamet, Mike Muscala, and Wilson Chandler to the Los Angeles Clippers for Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, and Mike Scott in a move to beat Thursday’s trade deadline.

In addition to the three players, the 76ers sent a lottery-protected 2020 firstround pick, a 2021 unprotected first-round pick, a 2021 second-round pick, and a 2023 second-round pick to the Clippers.

The trade went down in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, hours after the 76ers’ 119-107 loss to the Toronto Raptors.

That defeat only emphasized the 76ers’ need to improve their roster if they plan on competing with the Eastern Conference’s elite teams in a run for the NBA Finals.

Bulls

Chicago agreed to send Bobby Portis and Jabari Parker to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Otto Porter Jr., a league source confirmed. Porter, averaging 12.6 points and 5.6 rebounds, is due $55.7 million over the next two seasons.

Pistons

Detroit dealt forward Stanley Johnson to the Milwaukee Bucks for center Thon Maker. Johnson, 22, the Pistons’ first-round draft pick (eighth overall) in 2015, has battled with consistency through his career. Maker is a 7-foot-1, 221 pound center.

Lakers

Los Angeles acquired Reggie Bullock from the Detroit Pistons for rookie guard Svi Mykhailiuk and a future second-round draft pick. Bullock averaged 12.1 points per game starting 44 games for Detroit.

Heat

Miami sent Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington to Phoenix for Ryan Anderson, helping alleviate the logjam of guards that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra has been dealing with.
