The past week: Mills helped Peters Township clinch its second-consecutive WPIAL Class 6A Section 2 title with a 61-46 win against Bethel Park Jan. 28, then registered 15 points and four assists in a 68-40 triumph against Mt. Lebanon Monday on Senior Night.

Check this out: Mills, who is 5 feet 11 and is committed to play basketball at Case Western Reserve next season, does a little bit of everything for the Indians. She is averaging 14.1 points, 6.2 rebounds

and a team-high 5.4 assists per game while making 84 percent of her free throws.

How was senior night? It was good, it was really good. We played Mt. Lebanon and we won by 20 something, I think. We had food and all of our teammates wrote speeches about us, so it was really nice. What was it like beating Bethel Park to clinch your second section title in a row? It was amazing. Before the season even started, we were always just like, “Bethel, Bethel, Bethel.” They were our main rivals. Just being in that atmosphere and winning that game was amazing. It kind of gave us the belief we can do this. Do you feel like you’re on a collision course for a rematch with North Allegheny in the WPIAL championship game? Yeah. I mean, last year the WPIAL did not go as we hoped it would go, obviously. But really the whole year, NA has been there. We haven’t gotten to play them in the regular season,

but I’m hoping in playoffs we’ll get to match up with them at some point. How does one manage to maintain a 5.15 grade-point

average? I just always have managed my time well. I’m taking a ton of AP courses, so just pushing myself in school and then being able to still go to the rec center for two hours and then go home and study, I just can’t get distracted. When was the last time you didn’t get an “A” in one of

your courses? I got a “B” in Honors Gov last year. I was at a 89.98 percent and my teacher wouldn’t round it up. Favorite song to listen to before a game? In the locker room, we have a big speaker that we bring and we play a ton of songs before the games. After the game, as a team on the bus, we play “Lean on Me” and we all sing it. But that’s after the game. We just listen to pump up music before the game.
