Some good news for those of you who love planning ahead as much as you love eating pierogies.

The Pittsburgh Pierogi Festival is returning to Kennywood Park in West Mifflin on Sept. 22, and will feature even more of the potatostuffed dumplings from local churches and restaurants, along with live folk music, games and the chance to hop on some classic amusement park rides.

A limited number of early bird tickets went on sale Feb. 12. Available until April 12, or until supplies run out, the discounted price is $19.99 for ages 13 and up and $9.99 for children ages 3 to 12. It’s free for children ages 2 and under.

Standard pricing of $24 for ages 13 and up and $12 for children ages 3 to 12 begins on April 13.

This is the sixth year for the annual fest, which started small (and free) at South Shore Riverfront Park in 2013 and has grown bigger every year since. Last year, more than 6,000 food lovers and two dozen-plus pierogi vendors attended the event.

Organizers say guests will be able to enjoy even more amenities and activities in 2019. They’ll also see the return of the Pierogi Pinching Contest, which last year drew 40 participants from all across the region.
