Volunteers defeat sliding Vanderbilt

Tennessee snaps back in first game since losing No. 1 ranking.

Grant Williams had 14 points and 11 rebounds as No. 5 Tennessee beat visiting Vanderbilt, 58-46, in the Volunteers’ first game since losing their No. 1 ranking.

Tennessee (24-2, 12-1 SEC) bounced back from its first loss since Thanksgivi­ng week, an 86-69 defeat at No. 4 Kentucky Saturday to snap a school-record 19-game winning streak.

Vanderbilt (9-17, 0-13) dropped its 14th game in a row, matching the longest skid in school history.

Both teams posted their lowest point totals of the season. Vanderbilt shot just 32.1 percent overall and 23.5 percent in the second half.

Buffalo

Jayvon Graves scored a career-high 26 points and host No. 25 Buffalo (23-3, 11-2 Mid-American) used a record-setting shooting performanc­e to cruise to a 114-67 win against Ohio (11-14, 3-10) for its 23rd home win in a row. The Bulls set school records for 3-pointers made (19) and points scored against a Division I opponent.

Penn State

Lamar Stevens scored 16 of his 29 points in the first half and Penn State (10-16, 312 Big Ten) pulled away from visiting Nebraska (15-12, 511), 95-71. Rasir Bolton scored 21 while Mike Watkins and Josh Reaves added 10 apiece for the Nittany Lions who have won three of five.
