Antetokoum­po, James on bench with injuries

The star power of the Milwaukee Bucks-Los Angeles Lakers matchup Tuesday night was significan­tly lower with Giannis Antetokoum­po and LeBron James, who served as competing All-Star captains, missing the game because of injuries.

Antetokoum­po, an MVP front-runner, turned his right ankle Sunday in a loss to the Philadelph­ia 76ers. James sat out with a sore left groin, the same injury that caused him to miss a career-high 17 consecutiv­e games earlier this season.

Khris Middleton scored 30 points and Brook Lopez added 28 as the Bucks beat the Lakers, 115-101.

Linebacker Clay Matthews agreed to a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams, returning to his native Southern California after a decade with the Green Bay Packers, with whom he set a franchise record with 83½ sacks over 10 seasons.

• The Dallas Cowboys agreed to terms on a oneyear contract with freeagent receiver Randall Cobb, who spent the first eight years of his career with the Packers. Injuries limited him to nine games last season.

• The New York Jets signed tight end Daniel Brown, who has 35 catches for 317 yards and one touchdown in four seasons. He was a key special teams contributo­r for Chicago.

• The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms on a new contract with kicker Dan Bailey, the ninth-year veteran who was signed last season to replace struggling rookie Daniel Carlson.

• The Carolina Panthers signed unrestrict­ed free agent linebacker/defensive end Bruce Irvin, a former first-round pick in 2012, to a one-year contract.

• The Kansas City Chiefs signed cornerback Bashaud Breeland to a $2 million contract in hopes that he can replace Steven Nelson, who signed last week with the Steelers.

• Quarterbac­k Blake Bortles, who spent his first five seasons with the Jacksonvil­le Jaguars, agreed to a one-year deal to become Jared Goff’s backup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Brett Connolly sparked a three-goal second period and the Washington Capitals moved into first place in the Metropolit­an Division with a 4-1 victory against the New Jersey Devils, coupled with the New York Islanders’ 5-0 loss to Boston. The Capitals and Islanders each have nine games left in the regular season.

Boxing

WBC heavyweigh­t champion Deontay Wilder will defend his title May 18 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., against mandatory challenger Dominic Breazeale.
