Allegheny County Concert Series will feature Guster, Kurt Vile, RaeLynn and many more

- By Scott Mervis

Guster, Kurt Vile, Stephen Marley and Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes are among the highlights of the free Allegheny County Summer Concert Series at South Park and Hartwood Acres Park.

The series will run from May 31 to Sept. 1 and also include Foghat, Paul John White (from The Civil Wars), Tonic, RaeLynn, jazz-pop group The Manhattan Transfer and the B.B. King Blues Band without, of course, the late B.B. King.

It will also spotlight such regional faves as the newly Baltimore-based Billy Price with Clinton Clegg (from The Commonheart), rapper-singers Benji., Mars Jackson and Clara Kent, funk-rock bands Starship Mantis and Beauty Slap, and Joe Grushecky on a bill with his son’s band, Milly.

Returning for their annual performances will be the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Opera, Tamburitzans, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and River City Brass.

For the second straight year, UpRooted, the new band formed by Rusted Root’s Michael Glabicki, will play the Allegheny County Music Festival, a benefit for the Allegheny County Department of Human Services.

Hop Farm Brewing Company, a womanowned, family-run brewery in Lawrenceville, will once again be the exclusive craft beer vendor for the series, selling a variety of craft beers in the $4-$7 price range.

“One of the great traditions of summer is our free concert series at the South Park and Hartwood Acres Park amphitheaters,” County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said in a statement. “The 2019 Summer Concert Series has an exciting mix of styles that will appeal to music lovers of all ages. Whether you’re a frequent attendee, or have never been to one of our concerts, we hope you’ll join us for a great summer of live music, food trucks and craft beer.”
