The Women’s World Cup will expand from 24 to 32 teams in 2023.

FIFA unanimously approved expanding the Women’s World Cup from 24 teams to 32 for 2023 Wednesday and has reopened bidding to host the event.

Nine interested nations will submit formal bids by Oct. 4 and FIFA expects a decision next May.
